Meet Your BOND-Part 7: Short-Row Shoulder Shaping

Short-Row Shaping

And here, my dear students, is where the rubber meets the road! This is where your possession of a skill allows you to do better than the pattern suggests.

Or maybe I’m totally wrong! Maybe every pattern nowadays gives you the highest, best practices for construction and finishing techniques. I’m not sure because I have looked at very few patterns over the past 20+ years. I make up my own by looking at the pictures. Or the few I have looked at are great inspirations for design but I get exhausted looking through all the numbers and checking them because I never trust a written pattern with hundreds of numbers to be totally correct despite the very hard work and dedication of the designer, editor and publisher because I know how hard this work is and I know how many places an error can become interjected.

But in any event . . . always, always, you can trust that if you learn a skill well, you can apply it with confidence no matter what a pattern tells you to do because the designer, after all, may not have as much skills education as you.

This is an empowering skill. Learn it and save yourself time and aggravation when it comes to finishing and have your work look professional.
